Not quite shure, things evolve in manners that sometimes it is difficult to predict what's next. For example, who could imagine that FoxPro 2.6 Win would evolve the way it did to become VFP?

It was common knowledge as early as October of 1993 that a new version of Fox would be out - that was OO. At the time, it was not known that it would be called Visual FoxPro.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but in terms of Microsoft technologies in Brazil all you hear is ASP or (starting slowly) ASP.net. People don't want ASP calling VFP (or whatever) object, web services etc, they want "plain" ASP. So I see no future for VFP in a web scenario, at least in Brazil. This is *my* perception, hope I'm wrong.

The key point is that VFP really does not have much of a future. A lot of people don't like to hear that. That however, does not make it less true or an invalid point. And those that really don't like to hear it do not have have any material facts in their favor to counter the fact that VFP has no future. Sure, there is a new version coming out. Big deal. The market for jobs and opportunities AT BEST - will remain level. More likely, there will be further erosion.

The only growth segment in the Fox Market is for tools and techniques that aid developers in leaving Fox.
