Kevin,

First of all, thanx for the help.

Apparently, Seagate felt it prudent to leave the .NET version (CR8) of the libraries intact as far as the designer tools are concerned. I'm not sure why but that's what they did. It seems to me if you are moving to 9 then everything should be updated and you deal with forward compatibility on your own. As it is, just installing 9.2 over .NET leaves the most critical library out of the GAC. CrystalDescisions.VSDesigner. It should have been obvious from the message that the library was missing but I stupidly assumed it was part of CrystalDesisions.Web or that if it was available .NET would find it. Wrong.

Anyway after days of hair pulling I was able to install CR9.2 over a fresh copy of .NET Enterprize, then drag C:\Program Files\Crystal Decisions\Crystal Reports 9\CrystalDecisions.VSDesigner.dll to the GAC, then open the add/remove tools dialog and remove Webviewer version 9.1.xx and add 9.2.xx. I can now open a 9.2 Crystal Report with subreports in the 9.2 version of the web viewer.

I guess Seagate would rather we all buy Version 10. For the price I can understand why.
