>TamarG's main message seemed to be that there are people who do far more than FabioL as regards bug detection and reporting. I say good for them... and how does that relate to WalterM's comment that FabioL seems to have reported far more bugs here than anyone else??? Has it occurred to these contributors of massive amounts of bug reports that it would be incontestably HELPFUL TO THE COMMUNITY to copy/paste their volumes of bug reports here too???

That was in response to Walter's comment about Fabio posting more than "prominents." FWIW, I was the #1 bug reporter in the VFP 6, VFP 7 and VFP 8 betas. (In fact, I was the #1 bug reporter for Visual Studio 6, though I was testing only VFP.) I have reported literally hundreds, probably thousands, of bugs over the last 10 years, from visual glitches to doc errors to things that bring VFP to a crashing halt. Not everything I considered a bug was accepted as one, of course, and some of the rejected bugs led directly to ERs. I've posted numerous ER's, a number of which (including being able to specify the initial value of a property in the Add Property dialog) have made it into the product.

I really resent Walter's suggestion and yours that by not posting what I find to the UT, I'm not serving the community.

FWIW, I presently visit 5 different online venues devoted to VFP daily. If I took the time to repeat my bug reports in all 5 of them, I'd have little time left to get any work done.

How do you think people get into what you call the "in crowd"? We're not specially annointed. It's hard work. I was invited into a beta originally because of my association with FPA (which came from writing articles for FoxTalk, FoxPro User Journal and then FPA). I've been asked back because I'm a productive beta tester who contributes to the quality of the product. If I stop reporting bugs, I imagine I won't be invited back.

FWIW, every VFP beta includes new testers, generally people who've had problems with some area of the product and reported them to the team. For example, there's one guy I don't think I've ever seen in an online venue who tests the heck out of VFP's accessibility features; he first appeared a couple of betas back.
