Hi all,

This is my first time really working with DTS so it may not be the tool I need to be using.

First thing I need to accomplish is simple enough.output the results of a query to Excel every night.So i was able to set this up easy enough. The Gotcha is I need the Filename to be in YYYYMMDD.XLS format. Is it possible to do this from DTS? or Would I have to write a vbscript or something to rename the file.

Second thing I will have to do is read an excel file in the same format of YYYYMMDD-update.xls and then perform update query's based on the data contained in the cells.



I could easily write something in VFP to do this and schedule it to run every night but would like to do it using the SQL tools if possible. I need to broaden my horizons :)
