Well that's one of the big problems with some of this adware junk - it installs without the user's knowledge. As matter of fact there is a bill in the Senate right now that's about to be passed to prevent companies from doing that.
Anyway...if you dont have ad-aware installed you should do so. I think it's better than the spysweeper, spyhunter, spybot search & destroy - ad-aware updates their reference file much more often.
