It might very well be the "new window" issue which Michael mentioned; I don't remember which is the factory default. To control this, select "Tools | Preference", then "Windows". Under "Popups", I suggest you select "Block unwanted popups". I think that refers that popup Windows that were not explicitly requested by a click.
