>>>Picked up a copy of "Using Visual Studio" by Que from a friend who got it at VBITS. Large book. Looked for Visual FoxPro reference. Found ONE on Page 14: "Visual FoxPro is not included in this book because it is a standalone database and cannot be used to create CPM components". This is not an exact quote but close enough.

>>>Grrrrrrr. Doesn't anybody ever check these books for technical accuracy? As long as these types of "expert" books are published, VFP will never find a solid place in the world.

>>Yup. I saw the same thing...then put the book back on the shelf at the bookstore.

>By the way....noticed I typed "CPM" instead of "COM" ... must be an acid-flashback to the 70's and Digital Research :-)
Years ago, Que published a basic DOS guide which assumed that the reader already knew how to use EDLIN. It doesn't sound like they've gotten a clue since then.
A friend of mine authored a couple of chapters for one of their books about networking. They demanded that he re-write everything as a sequence of numbered steps, no matter how complicated the decision tree might be. It seemed to my friend that Que was strongly oriented to the novice audience and couldn't really conceive of any other.
