Steve,
I know some developers who use VFP with local tables unless there is a compelling justification and budget to use C/S, in which case they use that. I also know some developers who insist that local or C/S data storage is always best in every case. Finally I read messages from developers who think that if SQL Server is better for a customer it means VFP is no good.
It seems to me that the first group is easy to understand, followed by the second group whose customers may make their decision rational, followed by the third group whose position seems impossible to support in view of the first group.

yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
