>Still, I know that a few people (myself included) asked some specific questions about the sequence of events between last fall when Whil resigned and earlier this year when Whil made the announcement. Some specific questions were asked as well about whether Foxtalk was still profitable at the time.

What were the specific questions and what were the respones? I'd be interested in knowing the answers.

You know, I am disappointed that Whil isn't still involved as heavily in the FoxPro community, but the market won't bear or support this; at least that is the claim and I believe it. But, he is doing what he feels he needs to do and if that is different from what he said 6 months or a year ago, then that is always his decision, whether or not it disappoints any of us. The way that things change so quickly in this market and how Visual FoxPro work is departing, at least from what I've witnessed here in southern California, it is no wonder to me or anyone else in our local user groups that some are walking away from FoxPro and choosing to do other things.

It is true that there has been some flack flying around against Whil, as if he somehow can change the direction that things have gone. Can I prove that there has been flack? I suppose I could if I wanted to spend the time researching on this forum. What's the use of people slamming Whil? he's a good man, did a great job in the FoxPro community for a long time.

The market has fallen off dramatically. He has the right to follow what works, so he is. Things do change and people have to move on to other things in order to make a living. I'm still developing software in Visual FoxPro, but I am preparing to take either a VB.NET class or a C#.NET class soon at a local Junior College, because I, as well as Whil and almost everyone on this forum sees what is coming. I didn't want to accept what was coming, but I remember one meetign where Whil todl us what was going on. Many of us were shocked. We didn't know.

I did not want to accept that Microsoft would allow one of their own products to whither on the vine, but that is what the company has done. In spite of genuine efforts in improvign Visual FoxPro, there is no effort in MS marketing to increase corporate awareness of how good a product that VFP is. MS has chosen another path (darn it). (We've already read plenty of discussions on MS' lack of marketing of VFP.)

I think FoxPro is the greatest "desktop" development tool around, bar none. it is quicker and easier to put together database applications than most anything out in the market, even more so than .NET apps (IMO). In spite of that, it is Microsoft's own policies that are killing off the many opportunities to develop software using Visual FoxPro. But, on the other hand, there will be many opportunities to learn new products and that is what we may choose to do, as Whil has also done.

Man, it is way late at night and I am tired of seeing my own ramblings.

Buenas noches.
