merely was to turn around the logic that some seemed to be using to say that there's no reason to explore outside of VFP because it "does data best."

Are there some people who say that? Maybe there are and I missed it. No matter. Perhaps for their customers and them it is true.

Example: I can safely say that I see no point investing in a snow plow. Others might attack me ferociously, citing their own experiences of foul winters to prove what a fool I am. Others might observe that cities in the subtropics where it never snows may well have different needs from cities in PN and that the best discussions allow time to discuss such circumstances before the scoffing and attacking starts.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
