"Yeah unless you cheat like emperor Bush."

I used to LOL everytime I read or hear someone say that. But the joke has been told some many times now that it is not funny anymore.

I can accept that the vote was very close ( I'm talking about the electoral college vote the only one that counts. In the future that may change, but that is the system we have now. )
And maybe the person that is currently the Pres. of the USA is not the man that you wanted elected. It is even possible that people in Florida were confused and voted for someone other then what they wanted, and I grant that is a reasonable possibility. But we can only go with the information e.g. ballot, that we have ( had ) . Even thou Gore ( I say gore because it was his campaign who request it ) made a targeted recount request and it was done ( I forget was it 5 times ?) Bush received more votes in Florida. Bush did not create the election laws in Florida, nor did he create the possibly flawed ballots. The closets thing to ‘cheating’ that I saw was that the Fl. Supreme court was attempting to change the voting rules after an election was held. The US Supreme court said no way ( OK IANAL but that in a gross summary what happened )

Before my Time Nixon ran against Kennedy and lost. There is a lot of ‘evidence’ that significant alterations of the vote was made to benefit Kennedy. Nixon could have fought as Gore did, but he did not.

BTW I have no problems at all that Gore wanted a recount, and he had the ‘right’ to do a selective recount, I think thou it would have been better to make it state wide as too seem more ‘real’ The funny thing in my mine is that because there was these multiple recounts I can be sure in saying Bush won the FL vote and therefore the election. If Gore had just accepted, then we could debate if Bush has really won or not.

Back to Nixon. Nixon was a man enough to realize that yes the election was close and even if Kennedy was elected with some ‘tarnished’ votes he was still someone that about 50% of America wanted. ( OK I do not have the popular votes total in hand so that is a guess ) Nixon publicly accepted Kennedy. Now I wonder if that was the germ of Watergate, e.g. If the Dems can play dirty so can the Repubs. Nixon wanted to make sure that he would never be ‘cheated’ again.

The recount request of Gore shows me how ‘little’ of man he was. Nixon showed how a truly great man accepts defeat. Granted he later showed himself to be a very poor president visa vie WaterGate. I see him like FDR both one of the best and worst presidents in US history. I see Bush as overall a little better then most of the Pres, but not shall we say in the top 10, but far from the bottom 10.

Bush was elected president. We can debate if he a good pres or not, but to state that he cheated is laughable and make me ‘write-off’ people that say that.

I will attempt to refrain from futher comments on this subject. Have fun 'tearing apart' my comments
