In grade 12 (the final grade in BC), part of our English exam was to write an essay on any topic. This was to be done within the 2-3 hour time limit. Just before the exam period that year there has been two week of a teacher strike. My essay was about how unjust it was for the teachers to have gone on strike at the expense of the students. I was bit of a wise arse back then.... Long storm short is that I was given as marginal pass and was forced to take remedial english in my first year of university. This stunned me. Only now that I am in my 30's do I understand that I offended the marker and that is why I received that low grade. BTW, I earned an A+ in remedial English.
