I just want to communicate a couple of things about our recent election...

1) The campaign (from calling the election to counting the ballots) lasted a total of 36 days.
This seems a tad better than the 3.6 YEAR campaigns of the U.S. < s >

2) We ended up with a minority government with the Liberal party winning the most 'seats'. Pundits/pollsters has estimated a Conservative minority. Maybe they used a .NET application to figure that out < s >

3) The real reason for this message... sadly, only 60% of the eligible voters actually took the time to vote. This was the lowest voter turnout since 1896.
In radio/TV interviews those who didn't vote, almost to a person, cite that voting is useless because the politicians DO NOT LISTEN anyway and say one thing to get elected then go and do whatever they want once in power.
I've gotta say they have a strong point.

cheers
