Thanks, Tom, we've already been through the KB article with a fine tooth comb. Because MS talks about this as a VFP/FPW problem we're working on it from that end. Specifically looking at our transaction handling. I don't see where VMF could be contributing to the problem, because once the data starts to crawl we have the same problem with live tables in VFP.

This happens almost always on one table, and usually when one form is in use.
The table has about 15 indexes, because it's used heavily in reporting, and a memo field which is used in many of the transactions.

We're trying to see if using table buffering instead of row buffering will help, and also simplifying some of our transaction processing. We're also trying to find out if there is a 'Network Locks' value in NT-Server the way there is in Novell networks, and if so can it be raised.

If we get good results I'll post a follow-up message.
