>Don't forget whether or not you are willing and able to work 24x7! It is never outright mentioned, but those that do have no problem finding work. Being a woman, I am always amazed at the ways potential employers will find of asking me if I have kids, a husband, other responsibilities or anything that could prevent me from being available 24x7 without asking the illegal questions.... :o) I know there are many, many women programmers out there working crazy hours like I do but still other developers I come into contact with when working on projects are usually surprised that I work such long hours to accomplish a job. Most of them are usually at home at 6:00pm watching tv or playing games on their computer...
>I can't recall the number of times Sergey has saved me from hours of trial and error trying to figure something out late at night or very early in the morning. I've posted messages at the most ridiculous hours and somehow he still answers. I think everyone is right: he is not a real person but a supercomputer connected to the UT! :o)

Yep. One of the things I heard one of my clients tell a potential client (who eventually became a client) - "One thing I like him and his business the best is he's always available." Of course the fact I actually know what I'm doing is nice too - but I understand what you mean. It DOES make a difference.
As for Sergey - he's either not a real person but an automated supercomputer or perhaps he has cloned himself and now there is really 8 of him.

>>>Because you can do the .NET way in VFP also. But as a bonus you have several other ways in VFP you don´t have in .NET. This make VFP a more flexible tool and enables you more to solve a problem according the logical solution.

>>There are definatly more VB jobs that VFP, of course there are more VB developers than VFP. I also think that every 12 year old script-kiddie thinks they're a VB programmer and that overall the professionalism among VFP programmers is higher.
>>As far as finding work - being one of the better programmers in whatever language(s) you're dealing with can be just as big of factor to the number of jobs. If there are 20,000 VB jobs out there but you don't know VB very well, work slowly, can't do analysis work, just overall stink - you're not going to have much luck finding a job (or at least keeping one anyway). On the other hand, if there are 200 VFP jobs out there and you're a top notch VFP developer - you're going to get one of those 200. A good example of this is a guy I know who is a UniData/Pick programmer. Not to many PICK jobs out there now is there? Well he's always been able to find a job - why? Because he's one of the best PICK programmers alive. Probably not the smartest carrer move - but if he is happy & employeed so be it.
