No. The person asked why would I bother seeking a position on the VFP Team. i.e., what he implied was that if I wanted a career at MS - just expressing an interest in the VFP team was enough to cast doubt on my suitability for employment.

This all goes to the whole issue of whether sticking with VFP is tantamount to career suicide. It may or may not be the case. I am simply sharing my experience.

In the end, it was pretty damning what th MS-employee said.

I don't think we are talking about the same thing JR. It is one thing for a field rep to say that "Fox is dead". It is quite another thing for somebody -on another VS product team - to say something like "Why are you bothering to seek a postion on the Fox Team?".

You see the distinction - right? One is related to marketing/PR - so you would expect Fox to get bashed. In the other context, it was out of the public eye. Nonetheless, it still carried a good deal of stigma.
