Hello Ken

I hate to ask again but I didn't realise that the client wanting to use Citrix was using an older version of our software. It was written on Foxpro version 2.6. Do you by any chance know if this will be different than with version 8 ?
Sorry to bother you again.

Thanks

>Hi Mark,

>The short answer is YES it can be done successfully. I have two large clients in the trucking business that have grown over the years to the point where they added remote sites. Instead of moving to a client server architecture, an easier and quicker way to solve the WAN problem was to use some sort of remote access to the home office application.
>
>This can be done many ways and I am certainly no expert in the technicalities involved, but the basics are that your remote users log into a workstation in the home office and operate it remotely.
>
>An example of this is PC Anywhere and that works well depending on the connection speed and, of course, you must have a dedicated work station in the home office for every remote connection.
>
>Citrix operates in a similar manner EXCEPT that it does away with the need for the one-one requirement of the dedicated home office work stations. Citrix acts as a server for multiple remote users.
>
>As I understand it, CITRIX is a SUPERSET of Windows Terminal Server. So if you do not need the bells and whistles that Citrix brings to the table, you may be able to simply use Windows Terminal Server/ Remote Desk Top stuff.
>
>For more on how that all works, others that are more up on the technical side will certainly chime in and help out. But at least you know it is a viable option.
