Think about your customer target base:

if out-of-the-box support for differing backends is a main selling point,
use cursoradapters. Use them also, if vfp is your basic data storage -
especially if you already used local views.

If your [main] customer is sold on a specific backend,
SP might give you a bit more power, while enabling other
apps to work on the data as well.
