The property that you have to set is the BoundColumn.DataFormatString.
Take a look at ms-help://MS.VSCC.2003/MS.MSDNQTR.2003FEB.1033/cpref/html/frlrfSystemWebUIWebControlsBoundColumnClassDataFormatStringTopic.htm
The value would be something like {0:#,###,###}. It depends on the data range.
