If you use Sergey's suggestion and set the column's properties, that format will show for the first column in all records except the one that has focus. If you want the format to show whether or not the cell has focus you must either:

1. Also set the same properties in the textbox control for the column

or

2. Set those properies only in the textbox control, but set the column's Sparse property to .F.
