Neat idea! Here's another which actually was tried. . .

Canada has this delicious province called Newfoundland, and several years ago they tried advancing their clocks by 2 hours instead of just 1!
Couldn't have been too popular, because the idea was dropped for the next year, sticking with the 1. But they do, however, operate on a half-hour difference (time-zone wise) from the rest of us, even today!
