>>I opened Word and typed a bunch of gibberish, moved the cursor to the middle of the string, hit the insert key, started overtyping, stopped, hit the insert key again and started adding new letters not over typing. Opened PowerPoint and tried the same thing and the program just ignored the toggle action of the insert key.

On most keyboard schemes the 'Insert' key nativly (sp?) toggles between inserting new text or overtyping. For some odd reason PowerPoint over-rides the keyboard. Word uses the native keyboard functions. In Outlook I believe there is a key combo that sets the overtype function. I keep thinking that more than one user has called me becuse they are over typing in their email and did not wish to do so.
