I've seen data in a memo field be corrupt. I did a scan on the database. I did a wait window with a field value so I can find it. I would get a C5 error on the bad memo field. Deleting the record corrected the problem.

SCAN
WAIT WINDOW TRANSFORM(trial.ddate) NOWAIT
ENDSCAN

This solved my problem, hope it helps.
