Tracy;

True words!

We have a “three strikes” law in our state. Three felony convictions and you go to prison for life in California. We have more people in prison serving life for smoking pot compared to those who committed murder.

We are a” free nation”. We also have more people in prison than any other nation. It costs more to incarcerate a prisoner than to educate a child. If we dared to attempt to determine how to improve this reality then there would be a public outcry from conservatives. It would be a liberal conspiracy! Too bad something will not be done about this to improve it. The solution some people have is to put even more people in prison.

Only God fearing people deserve to be members of society. Those in jail deserve to stay there. Once a fallen person always a fallen person.

I recall four years ago when someone asked presidential candidate and previous governor of Texas George W. Bush about the death penalty in Texas. Mr. Bush replied, “No innocent man has ever been executed in the state of Texas! They have all had a fair trial”! That reminds me of the “joke”, “Lets hang the guilty bastard and give him a fair trial.

Having people in jail that have committed violent crimes is one thing but not everyone in jail is in this category or guilty. Our political leaders will solve this and other problems as they have in the past.

Tom

>It used to be a source of amazement to Americans to think about the innocent people sent to prison under Soviet rule. Nowadays Americans would be amazed to learn how many innocent people are actually on deathrow in the U.S. or locked up for years at least and they were all sent there by their 'peers.'

>>>Ms. Ronstadt said according to a local television newsperson she did not like to perform in front of Republicans or the Religious Right. At least the lady speaks her mind.

>>>I am sure that I would never perform in front of a bunch of gamblers who were drinking. That crowd is one I avoid!

>>I.e. sounds like a good moment to start discarding the mothballs off those old Soviet-era jokes...
