If you consider security for your data, better use SPT, eventhough it requires more code than ODBC. In ODBC, just create updateable views and thats it, its easier to update & delete. But, if a clever user wants to destroy the data, its very easy install VFP, just browse the remote views and thats it, he has the total control of the data... And in fact, as Borislav says, more easier for you if you plan to migrate/upsize your data to SQL Server...
