I totally agree. I have clients beating on my head for more and more output from me. I find that if I say they have to buy a faster computer to get it now or let me work on it for a while for $4,000 more in my time they say they are better served by buying $12,000 in faster computers and getting it now. When they realize they need it they want it to already be in place.

To the business client time IS money and to buy time (mine and theirs) they PAY for it either way, so the sooner the better. That means doing it the quick way wins the war for dollars.

So, unless there is some very compelling "get it done quicker" in using some .net thing, it isn't worth it to my client and is then not worth it to me no matter how badly I want to "play" with the new tools. I have to pay for my food and housing, so I have to do what the ones willing to pay me want. And what they want is "NOW"!
