Jim, thank you once again. The results are better, but my test may be incorrect: I am testing with 2 PCs, com-to-com, and had the same results as the cnc machine to this point. I used the code you gave me and followed instructions, and the result (pc to pc) is that the portions are being repeated in the file downloaded; that is, the longer I wait to click the second button, the more repeated text gets downloaded. I'm still experimenting, and maybe I'll need to test it on the real machine. Thanks for getting me on the right track. Of course I'd appreciate more help if you can.
