Really? I had an Alexa variant (no search bar) and it did remove mine. You did upgrade to the latest version of the software and signatures for Spybot?
My kids had something similar to what you're seeing on your computer. I found some other software that identified it and told you how to manually remove it (registry entries, and delete some files), but it didn't do it automatically. Try doing a Google for "Alexa search" and see what you can come up with.
