I wish it were that simple. I have Cisco 7940 IP phones. They can display anything on their screens, but the data must be presented in XML format. So you call an ASP URL from the phone service. The ASP then returns XML and the content is displayed on the phones. The problem is you can not mix text and graphices, so if you want to display something with text and graphics together such as my example, you have to "take a picture of the end product and send it to the phones. To complicate matter Cisco uses a proprietary graphics format called CIP format. So any gif or jpg needs to be converted to CIP. There is a comtrol that does this, so if I could assemble my screen, output to a variable as a jpg and then use that variable as the CIP conversion parameter I would be in business.
