They say that in Britain, when there's heavy fog on the Channel, they say that the continent is cut off.

Set Rant On

I'm using Mozilla 1.7.1 as my email client. It's regularly registered on the system as the email client, even Internet Explorer lists "Mozilla mail" in "Tools/Internet [Explorer?] options/Programs". Practically all of the document-oriented software I have (including the freebie little image editor I got with the old digital camera) has a Send option in the file menu. All of them comply to Windows guidelines and open up a blank message with the currently edited file attached. Even IE launches Mozilla when I select File/Send page.

M$ Office doesn't. In version 2000, it just said that I don't have a properly configured email client. It must have been wrong, or the few thousand email messages that I send or receive each year are just an illusion.

Now with Office 2003, it doesn't even have a Send in the file menu. The help says, in "Troubleshoot sending e-mail from Excel", that "If you don't have an e-mail program (such as Microsoft Outlook) installed on your computer, the E-mail button does not appear on the standard toolbar."

There must have been a tectonic change in English language, because "such as" seems to mean "exactly the" now. Or the continent is cut off? Or is it just a religious push in the "we are right and everybody else is wrong" direction, "thou shalt have no other software installed"... could have been expected after the position of so-called "evangelist" was introduced.

Still, I think resistance is not futile.

p.s. Michel, why does UT convert "Microsoft Outllook" into a link, but doesn't do so with "Mozilla"? It may merit inclusion into UT's list of autolinks.
