I downloaded, installed, and have been using IrfanView. It is excellent freeware. My main complaint is that it doesn't display a whole set of thumbnails. It also doesn't store your last opened folder in an .INI file or anything. It should also have more of its features available in the toolbar.

I note that Irfan is a Bosnian living in Vienna.

My computer at home is old and uses Windows 98. I'm using Windows 2000 at work and don't play much with photos. When using "My Computer" or Windows Explorer, I commonly set it to "classic interface" rather than web-style, for speed and to save desktop space. When I upgrade at home, I'll see what Win XP does for me, with regard to previewing pictures.

I haven't looked into its printing options. It would be nice if it could print a whole folder of photos, sizing and orienting them properly for the chosen paper size.

I could also use an inexpensive program that could take a folder full of photos and make a common set of changes in batch mode, such as resizing 50% or increasing .jpg compression by some amount.

>IrfanView is a very fast, small, compact and innovative FREEWARE (for non-commercial use) graphic viewer for Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003.

>>I was looking for exactly the same kind of thing - get a quick overview of a folder full of images - and IrfanView, which is free, fulfilled my requirements almost exactly.
