>Can SQL Server 6.5 have an actual null value for a datetime column or will it always default to Jan. 1, 1900, 12:00:00?
Jan 1,1900 is not a default datetime()
1/1/1900 00:00:00 is a empty datetime send by VFP
To store null in SQL from VFP you need fill text-box or field datetime type with [ctrl+0], that action puts .null. in the field, then VFP, correctely to SQLServer

I Hope this help you
