I wouldn't know how to go about approaching MS on this. My attempts to communicate with them in the dim and distant past all diappeared into a black hole, so I gave up trying.

My concern is if there are any other bits of the OS similarly restricted. It is rather inefficient to work on something, then have the effort wasted because of unknown licence issues. This is why I think MS should post details of which bits they have "bought in", where they have any usage limitations placed on them.
