It works for IE6Sp1 as well, even if the doc is based on the old IE5 and the old IEAK.

Active desktop is the "windows desktop" in the screens of IEAK, and if you have to install in a non-english version, you are better off by trying the english version first to get rid of translation inaccuracies and then following the same procedure in the target language.

You have to build the patch on a machine WITH active desktop if you want to add the active desktop, so a "bootstrap" approach from a "naked" machine won't work (you can guess what I tried first[sigh] <bg>), but any NT4 with active desktop, W98 or W2k will do.

Makes you thirst for less eye candy and simple readable installation scripts -
"grandma" would never do such things anyhow. The process itself including the use of previously gathered installs and checking them seems to be well thought through.
