Something else that I run into sometimes is a problem in a translation. I might say something - using a local slang - that someone else will not get. This could cause problems.

Also, because the intented audience can't see me - and how I might be saying something, it can be taken wrong. In verbal communication, the verbal part is only a small portion of the overall communication. How we sit, our facial expressions, our tone of voice, etc carry a lot of meaning as well. But when typing/reading something - you don't get to experience all that.
