PCL 6 printer driver problems?

I recently recompiled a project under VFP 8 sp1 that had been under VFP 7. We are now having PCL errors printing fox reports to some printers on the network. The printers are varying models. For example, a 1 page invoice ends up with an inapprpriate page feed in the middle , resulting in the bottom half of the page going onto a 2nd page.

Some research here on UT suggests VFP 8 may not play well with all PCL 6 drivers.

I'm pretty sure it is a printer driver problem/issue. Steps taken:

1. Opened the offending report in the project, removed printer environment and recompiled. No effect. Though I believe this is generally wise.

2. Loaded a generic HP laserjet 4 driver for one of the printers. - Result was that the report worked correctly, but tray selection on the printer stopped working.

3. Looked for and failed to find an alternate PCL5 driver for the models we use.

Server: W2K SP4, all patches up to date. 2 GB RAM 30 users.
Users have a mix of XP and W2k stations.
5 users access the application through Terminal services, including me.

Printer Models used:

Samsung ML=1650 - works okay with HP laserjet 4 driver, but tray selection is hosed.

Lexmark Optra T612 network printer. : Same malformed report output.

Kyocera Mita KM-2350 - network copier/printer. - works ok locally, but gets PCL XL error msg when same report is printed through terminal server session. (works fine under VFP 7)

Any ideas are appreciated.
