I've never uses DataClas so I can't comment on it, but it probably will do what you need. Other options are VFP's CursorAdapter, or SPT which work very well.

Most VFP available OOP Frameworks also have facilities and classes to easily manage SQL Server connections.

Or you can use wwSQL class from Rick Strahl (http://www.west-wind.com/webconnection/docs/_S8X03TCFS.htm). Or Andy's & Marcia's (http://www.tightlinecomputers.com/Downloads.htm) data connection classes.
