If Mike's responses describes what you are seeing then I think you meant that 'FormA is an *instance* of the generic data entry form'

If you sub-class the generic form and change the .BufferMode there than an instance of that class will work as expected.

An alternative is to set .AutoOpenTables .F. in the DE and issue DE.OpenTables() from the Form.Load()
