I had the privilege to have a private demo. So I've been able on that demo to ask questions because the demo did'nt show things that should've been there.

The answers surprised me a lot because they appeared to be "Quick and dirty patches to deficiencies" rather than answers based on additional features of their software.

>You essentially are proposing to become "the other woman" (or man, if you prefer) in a relationship with the express objective of destroying the "marriage" in favour of marriage with your company. All the more reason to be SURE of the situation first AND to know if there is any real 'rift' between the two already.

>I have no idea what existing application, that you can replace, you are talking about. But software 'adequacy' is a very funny thing... I offer MS Word as an example of a piece of software that has many many bugs and inadequacies YET would be extremely hard to displace. Possibly your replacement is far superior BUT if the existing software is doing the basic job that might be enough for all but the most discriminating users.

You're right when saying that it's doing the basic job. But that's it. And I doubt that this basic job will be considered enough if we show what we have to users of their solution.

That's another surprising thing about the users in the IT world. Frequently the users are not really familiar with the possibilities of that weird thing called a computer. So they won't really question themselves about the lack of feature of the application they're using. Frequently It's up to developers to bring them that killer app. after understanding the business (vertical market) they got into.
