See what happens with imminent brain death. I use AFIELDS() for all sorts of things. Why didn't I think of that? It not only would be faster, but I can set up one array for each table in the form's data environment that must be FieldNo()ed and use the array instead of the table itself. Mmmmm! Lots of possibilities there.
Like the pundit said, I can no longer afford to let my mind wander. It's just too small to be let out by itself.
