My sympathy! Our parent company has both the AS400 system for inhouse and we use windows with Delphi and VFP at thousands of client sites. Our VFP app communicates with the AS400. One major difference is the time it takes to do modifications. In our VFP apps we can make the modifications easily and in a relatively short period of time. Any structural changes to files on the AS400 requires major changes in all programs that interact with those files and can take months to implement. Whenever we need to change the way data is stored to be able to pull different information from the AS400 the RPG guys start to panic. I used to program in RPG and believe me, I wouldn't go back for anything.
