>As far as i remember you can not uninstall IE past the version that came with the OS so completely removing it is impossible, however re-install over the existing files may work, this might be called "fix this installation" or something like that.

That's discouraging :( Do you know, how exactly can I invoke this "fix this installation" option? I'm puzzled, why IE shows Russian letters as Unicode. None of whom I discussed this problem can replicate it or suggest a cure.
