Hi Metin,

I can see that you are very passionate on the issue. I did not mean to flout Iraq's oil but only to point out that it doesn't make sense to say that the U.S. is in Iraq only for oil, simple because while it has large reserves the economic gains that would be a result would be relatively small for the U.S. if that were true.

Reconstruction is not being entirely billed to Iraq. Regardless, would you prefer the U.S. pull its troops and economic support out of Iraq and leave it to fend for itself? I am not clear as to what you want to occur. Even if you believe that the U.S. should not have entered Iraq you must at least see that it has a clear responsibility to stabalize it now given its actions. If the U.S. were to pullout now, the PKK would only grow in size and power as a result (as well as other organizations).

As to the PKK, that is purely a state department issue and I do not know why the U.S. is dragging its feet on the issue. Both the PKK and Turkey have a history of violence. Turkey going back much further and spanning a level of violence unparalled (Ottoman Empire). I understand that the U.S. implied its support in dismantling the PKK in IRaq in discussions with Turkish leaders when they wanted Turkey's assistance with Iraq. However, in the past, the PKK did not pose a direct threat to the U.S. so however violent (and I do not dispute its violence) it was not a top priority for the U.S. when troops are committed in so many places. Until recently, the PKK seemed to reserve their aims towards Turkey. In 2002 the U.S. added the PKK to its Terrorist Enemies of the United States listing (the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996). I do know that U.S. intelligence agents helped the Turkish apprehend Abdullah Ocalan when he left the Greek embassay in Kenya on his way to the airport. They tipped off Turkey as to his whereabouts. Also, this political viewpoint may or may not be true (I do not know) but it is interesting:

I am beginning to lean towards the CATO Organization's 1999 viewpoint on it all.

>If USAs war with terrorism: A terror organization placed on Iraq named PKK killed 30.000 Turkish people, why USA don't do anything to PKK?
>
>Why reconstruction needed in Iraq? Because USA bombed there. And reconstruction billed to Iraq not USA. Iraq will pay it with oil. Don't flout Iraq oil. They have worlds biggest oil reserve...
>
>>Then you must not know anyone personally that is fighting the war on terrorism or anyone that was a victim of terrorism. It exists, it is real, and it is a threat. I support the war on terrorism whether or not you believe it exists. We will always disagree on that one.
>>
>>Regardless, if U.S. troops were in Iraq solely for oil then the U.S. would be receiving massive quantities of oil or money from the sale of it from Iraq which to my knowlege it is not. The U.S. is spending 4-5 billion a month in Iraq. Even if the U.S. benefitted from oil production in Iraq, oil production would not even finance the costs of reconstruction in Iraq let alone benefit the U.S. Forecasts estimate oil revenues in Iraq at 10-12 billion annually which compared to the 4-5 billion a month the U.S. spends in Iraq now is miniscule.

>>>War on terrorism? :))) It's a big lie. This is a war on oil.

>>>>You'll have to put me in the category of hated USA folks because I support the war on terrorism. It may not always be as black and white as people would like it to be, but for me I'm behind it.

>>>>>Canada,Sweden and Australia really worthy to envy countries but I don't think so anyone hate them.
>>>>>
>>>>>And I don't think anyone hate USA folks. But your president think so he is in a crusade with other world. I bought gas 1.5 USD/lt. yesterday and that reason is Bush. Because Bush taken Iraq and probably he will attack Iran. We are near Iraq and Iran. Can you imagine anyone attacked to Mexico?

>>>>>>This is pure thread drift, but since you brought it up ...
>>>>>>
>>>>>>Hate, sometimes derived from envy, is such a despicable emotion and serves no useful or constructive purpose. It is also a waste of energy and diverts your focus away from where it should be - improving life for you and your family. Do not depend or wait on some government or false prophet to help bring you happiness or prosperity because it will NEVER happen. Focus your energy on something constructive for yourself and your family. Now imagine if all of us, excluding politicians and lawyers < g >, did that...
>>>>>>
>>>>>>>Another reason hate to USA for other world given from USA. Don't angry others for that. Because you isolate yourself.
