OK, I am glad that you solved it.
I have used this method, to check every 2 minutes for a certain file in a shared directory, successfully. When I needed to kick out all users, I just created the file.
The Timer checks every 2 minutes; also, the program check for the existence of the special file, on startup (before opening tables), shows a warning, and quits.
