In order to get the result that you seek, you must have a date and time for the values you are subtracting, unless you want to assume that time2 is from the previous day. But that would make it impossible to calculate time values that represent times in the same day or times that span more than 1 day. In your example, time1 = time2 since you do not specify the date that each time is associated with and zero is the correct result. IMHO, any calculation of time MUST also include the date otherwise the time values are ambibuous.
