I believe, there are only two settings that should be considered:
color palette and the display size.
If you use 256 colors while creating forms, than the form should be dysplayed properly for any palette setting (probably this is what may cover "crappy" in your message).
As for "cuttoff", then probably it is because the display size is less than the form size. If it is the case, than either reduce the form size, or use the appropriate auto-resize utility that change the size of the form, and size and locations of the controls on that form.
