The Wrox book is excellent. A good place to start.

Inside SQL Server 2000 is also excellent, but I would recommend that as a third or fourth book after you get some basics down. It goes into great detail about how SQL Server works and it's important to get some basics first.

For T-SQL, I have The Guru's Guide to Transact-SQL by Ken Henderson that's pretty good.
