You're absolutely correct...it is duplicating the code and you shouldn't/don't have to do it. I think you just discovered your own problem though. In the that code you just wrote where your setting the databinding properties, you only specify the columnname. But in the previous code you had tablename.columname. You say the former works. By guess is that the table name of table(0) in the business objects default data set isn't "State". Try just putting the column names in the data binding properties of the mmComboBox (in design mode).
