I translated your code to VB and it still didn't work. In fact. this was identical to my first attempt at making it work. The key was putting in:

Me.BindControl(Me.cboStates)

after the method that retrieves the data per Kevin McNeish's suggestion. So, while the data was out there, it just wasn't being bound to the row source of the combo.

Unless it is because I am not binding the selected value of the combo to any object?? Anyway, I really appreciate all your help.
