I have a bit of a problem with my backup file from the transaction log. The live file is 177 Mb and when the backup portion of the maintenance plan executes it creates a file that is 3Gb in size. I use the restore filelistonly command to check the contents and only the necessary files were present and they had the correct size listed. The really strange part is when I started the job manually the log backed up to a size of 168 Kb. What could be going on here?
